StellarCakeArt

I've always had a passion for the arts. When I was younger, I enjoyed drawing, painting, modeling with clay, unique photographs, etc. Over the years, that passion has kind of been lost…not gone, just lost. I grew up, gained a family, and my main interest is now my husband and children. However, one day I watched a popular television show about making cakes. Not just any cakes, but cakes that looked more like sculptures of art than edible goodness. I immediately wanted to try it…seemed logical…cake, yum…art, awesome…put them together and you get yummy awesomeness…lol!

So, my journey began on Youtube. Seriously, you can learn just about anything on Youtube…lol. I watched video after video on how to make fondant, how to make buttercream icing, and how to bake cakes from scratch. Now, I don’t make cakes that often, so every time I make a cake, it seems like any one of those things will come out different…lol. But, I’m probably the only one that notices. Fondant is still a learning experience for me today, but I’ve definitely learned how to work with it much better than when I first started. Buttercream is the only frosting that I’ve attempted to make. I love it and have not had a reason to try anything different, so that’s what I’m sticking with for now. However, I’m sure I’ll venture out eventually. Cake batters…wow, did I ever try a lot of these! I tried recipe after recipe that I found on the Internet and was never happy with any of them. I want the fluffy and moist cake that comes from a Duncan Hines cake mix ;) I have researched the value of each ingredient, baking environments, etc., and I still can’t get the cake I want. So, I have my best cake recipe written down with no intention of fixing it again anytime soon. For now, it will just be me and Duncan Hines…lol…until I can figure something else out OR convince a friend to do the baking for me :)

Below, I have listed photo links to each of my cakes. Just click on the cake that you wish to see more photos of and/or want to know more about. I have also started a "How to" section for creating cakes of art, so don't forget to check that out below the cake photos! Hope you enjoy!
