Kittens in a Basket

This cake creation was for my grandmother-in-law's 80th birthday. The basket weave technique was quite easy, once I figured it out...lol. It was a yellow cake with cherry pie filling (of the canned variety...I wasn't on the up and up for a lot of the fillings) and chocolate buttercream icing. Everything is edible, including the little kitties on top (fondant). As far as I know, my grandmother-in-law still has the kittens in her refrigerator/freezer...she couldn't stand the thoughts of eating them :)
